It’s been said that falling in love is like owning a dog…
But marriage? Marriage is like living with that dog forever.
It’s not all belly rubs and tail wags.
You don’t just fall in love with it—you adopt it for life.
You’ve got to feed it, train it, clean up after it,
and occasionally stop it from chewing on the furniture—or on each other.
Marriage, like a dog, wakes you up in the middle of the night.
Not always for a good reason.
Sometimes it just needs to be near you.
Marriage asks for your time, your patience, and your whole heart.
It follows you from room to room,
sits too close when you’re busy,
and somehow knows when you’re sad.
It nudges your hand until you remember:
Oh, right—this is love.
It drags you into interactions you didn’t mean to have
and introduces you to people you’d never meet otherwise.
It can make a mess, sure—
But it also brings things back you thought were lost: laughter, forgiveness, joy.
And the best part?
No matter how weird, loud, chaotic, or muddy life gets,
Marriage—like a good dog— is always happy to see you come home.
I’ve known Zoe since she was a little girl. Her Dad is one of my husbands closest and longest friends! So when it came time for Zoe to get married I had to ask two of my closest friends and colleagues to please cover her wedding so I could attend as a guest! So the amazing Nicole Harris and Stephanie Parent stepped in to shoot this gorgeous event! As Windsor wedding photographer’s it is truly a blessing to help each other out in these times! Zoe and Brent’s big day was set at the beautiful Urban Field House, where they said their vows on the beautiful outdoors grounds. Before their family and friends they exchanged vows and even had a very special ring bearer, adorable pup, Auggie. If you know me, you know I love when animals are included in any part of a wedding! They had a beautiful cocktail hour, complete with signature cocktails, named after the bride and groom, and of course, Auggie. The reception was beautifully decorated with king tables, baby’s breath and greenery. The bride and groom shared their love of donuts instead of the traditional wedding cake. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches, long awaited first dances and of course an open dance floor! Even though the day was a little cool weather wise, the day was filled with warmth, family, fun, laughs and of course love. Im so grateful I got to attend this wedding and watch one of our closest friends celebrate his beautiful daughter, but I am even more grateful that my wonderful friends captured these beautiful images for them to treasure forever. Zoe and Brent, we all wish you a lifetime of making memories, puppy snuggles, ball games, happiness, laughter and of course the most epic love story.
